Hand Wax Application

Hand-applied wax for warm depth of gloss and short-term protection.

Wax is the traditional protective layer. It sits on the paint, adds a warm depth that many people prefer on darker colors, and gives water something to bead on instead of the clear coat.

It is also the shortest-lived option, typically measured in weeks rather than months, which is a fair trade if you like the look and wash your car regularly.

Application

Wax only performs on a clean, decontaminated surface. After the wash and any clay work, the product is applied thin by hand, allowed to haze, and buffed off with fresh microfiber. Thin coats buff more cleanly and last just as long as thick ones.

Wax versus longer-lasting options

If the car lives outdoors in fog and drizzle, a synthetic paint sealant will outlast wax by months, and a ceramic coating by years. Our comparison guide walks through the trade-offs.

Frequently asked questions

How long does wax last here?

Roughly four to eight weeks on an outdoor-parked car, longer if garaged.

Can wax go over an existing sealant?

Yes, wax can be layered over a cured sealant for extra gloss, though it does not extend the sealant's life.
