Paint Sealant Application

Synthetic protection that outlasts wax and sheds water in damp conditions.

A paint sealant is a synthetic polymer layer that bonds to the clear coat more tenaciously than wax. It gives a crisper, more reflective look and typically holds up for several months rather than weeks.

For cars parked outdoors in the fog belt, sealant is often the practical middle ground: meaningfully better protection than wax without the prep requirements and cost of a ceramic coating.

Application and cure

Sealant needs a clean, decontaminated, oil-free surface. After the prep, it is applied thin, given time to bond, then buffed. Most sealants want a few hours dry before the car sees rain, which we plan around.

Choosing between the three

  • Wax: best warmth of gloss, weeks of protection
  • Sealant: crisp reflection, months of protection, easier washing
  • Ceramic coating: years of protection, requires correction and prep first

Frequently asked questions

How long does sealant last on a street-parked car?

Commonly four to six months depending on the product, wash frequency, and exposure.

Is sealant worth it before winter rain?

Yes. It is one of the most cost-effective things you can do before a wet stretch because water and road film release far more easily.
